Hey there friends!!

I realize it’s been a long time since I’ve written, but I have received a few emails requesting charts for a few songs that can be used in worship for young ladies and women.

These three songs in particular are a few that the Lord has written on my heart to use in a an all women’s worship time.

The chords are a little crazy, but don’t worry, it’s only because I play a tuned down to Eb guitar.
I also use a cut capo on 2 which allows for the shapes to be in D formation for “Help Me Believe” & “Daughter of the King”.
Basically:
Eb=D , Ab=G , Fm= Em (throw your 1 finger behind the capo, play low E string on 2nd fret)

Eb/G= D/F# , Bb= A2 , Cm= Bm
Abba Father is a little different.
It is just Guitar dropped in Eb with no capo, play the D/F# , G, Em, & A shapes.

I hope this helps! Happy leading!

love,
Donna

Be Thou My Vision

I had the privilege of leading this age old hymn at Breakaway this fall in Reed Arena. Just me on guitar, Aaron Ivey on piano & the lovely Emily Ward leading beside me.

It was a holy moment. A moment filled with resolve, hope & belief. A moment much different than the week prior.

I had had some pretty unsettling dreams over the weekend that forced me to fight for truth to dominate the forefront of my mind rather than the lies that were presented to me while sleeping. Those moments are never easy. Lies can have such a searing volume to them at times, don’t you think? They are solicited to us by the enemy with the sole purpose of tricking us to believe what is eternally false verses what is forever true… in my case, that “I am a new creation created in Christ Jesus; the old things passed way; behold, new things have come!”

I was nervous to sing Be Thou My Vision because it is unfamiliar verbiage with the “Thees & Thous”. God knew that I would have to spend intentional time with the lyrics in order to have them memorized by tuesday.

I love that I have a Savior and friend who knows me. I serve a loving Father that hears me & a guiding Spirit that lives within me. I needed to memorize these words not because I was “leading them”, but because I “needed them” & the truth that was written for weary believers back in the 8th Century who struggled like me.

Today’s blog is an invitation to read the prayers I prayed as I embraced the concept of this ancient plea. I hope that you too can fight for truth when you are indeed tempted by lies.

Be Thou my vision Oh Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, Save that Thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

God you are the Lord of my heart. Be what I see. Turn my gaze upward to you rather than on myself. I need you to save me from myself… my thoughts. Stir my heart to think about You my “BEST THOUGHT” even as I sleep as well as when I’m awake. You are Light. You win over darkness. Bring light to the dark places in my mind I beg you. Your presence is my Light.

Be Thou my wisdom and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Father I need wisdom. In James you say to pray for it & You will give it to me. Thank You Lord for this truth. Bring your true word to the forefront of my mind. You told Joshua that you are there with him, you promised never to leave, fail or forsake him. I know you are with me as well. I am your daughter. You are my Father. You will never leave me. I will always be Your daughter. That will never change. You have put your holy Spirit within me. We are one.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou my inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of Heaven my Treasure Thou art

Lord, I wrestle with what people think of me. Please help me Lord to not be governed by thoughts from others. I desire to place my worth in YOU alone. Remove the idol of human approval from my heart. You approve of me because you have adopted & justified me. You are my first love Jesus. You are my Treasure. Nothing amounts to you.

High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys Oh bright heaven’s sun
Heart of my own heart whatever befall
Still be my vision, Oh Ruler of all

You have won the victory already for me Lord Jesus! I pray that I walk in that freedom… that victory. I pray that I don’t let lies convince me that I am worthless and shameful. No matter what happens on this earth to me Lord, I am forever safe in You. I will see You face to face some day, but until then I pray that You remain my steadfast gaze. You are my Vision. You are on Your throne… forever more. I love you Lord. Thank you for being the victor even today as we have fought these lies. To You be the Glory forever & ever. Amen

How about a specific Psalm that I have been meditating on for the last month or so. God has used these heartfelt words from King David to comfort my heart in the midst of so many scenarios. I pray He does the same with you. Be blessed sweet friends.

Psalm 34

The Lord a Provider and Deliverer
A Psalm of David when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who drove him away and he departed.

1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make it’s boast in the LORD;
The humble shall hear it and rejoice.
3 Oh Magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me
from all my fears.

5 They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces
shall never be ashamed.

6 This poor man cried and the LORD heard him,
and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
and rescues them.

8 O taste and see that the LORD is good.
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

9 O fear the LORD, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him, there is no want.

10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
but they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any
good thing.

11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the
fear of the LORD.

12 Who is the man who desires life, and loves length
of days that he may see good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and His ears
are open to their cry,

16 The face of the LORD is against evil-doers, to cut off the memory
of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry and the LORD hears, and delivers the out of all their troubles.

18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the LORD delivers
him out of them all.

20 He keeps all his bones; not one of the is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned,

22 The LORD redeems the soul of His servants; and none of those who take refuge in Hi will be condemned.
